How to make beads from a polymer clay cane (op art)

The easiest way to make beads, is to cut slices and cover wood, metal or glass beads.  If you want the beads to be all clay, here are some basic techniques.  

These canes were made from my op art tutorial.














 Since the canes can be reduced by squishing them, you can create multiple sizes.  This is my favorite thing about cane work!









 Just like with the decorative eggs, I bake the beads on a bed of cornstarch to keep them round.  I cover the dish with tin foil to protect my oven.
